Are ear mites inside my pet’s ear?

0
0

Ear mites are not usually located inside your pet’s ear. They usually are just on the outside of the ear flap and not located near the ear drum. Some signs your pet may have ear mites are scratching of the ears, whining, shaking of the head and dark debris in the ear.

The dark debris in the ear resembles coffee grounds and sometimes white specs. We treat ear mites with our PetsBestRx Mitactin Spray and PetsBestRx Healing and Protection Spray. To start your ear mite treatment, you begin by cleaning your pet’s ear out with the PetsBestRx Healing and Protection Spray.

The PetsBestRx Mitactin Spray and the PetsBestRx Healing and Protection Spray should be alternated daily, using one in the morning and one at night. Please make sure to use them at least four to six hours apart. Please make sure you apply the products lightly, if you over use the products it may cause irritation.

You can apply the PetsBestRx Healing and Protection Spray or the PetsBestRx Mitactin Spray to the ear by spraying it lightly on a Q-tip or cotton swab and applying it to the ear flap. Do not go any farther in the ear than the cotton tip of the Q-tip.  Pushing a Q-tip too far in the ear can cause a ruptured ear drum especially in cats.

It is best to start your ear mite treatment as soon as you start to notice the ear mite symptoms. The longer the ear mite infestation continues the more likely it is to cause a secondary ear infection.

More About -  Are ear mites inside my pets ear

Ear mites can be found on different locations on your pet’s body. These are named ear mites because in almost all cases they first invade the ears and with the passage of time may spread to other parts of the body in severe and untreated cases. These mites feed on the oil and wax present in the ear and hence can be found in the outer flap of the ear as well as the internal ear drum part. Ear mites will puncture the skin of the infected part and suck blood from it resulting in inflammation and severe irritation.

In cases of extreme severity and when the pet remains untreated for longer periods, the mites may spread to other body parts of the body like neck and tail, but these cases are quite rare and the main site for ear mites remain the ears.  It is important that you clean the ears of your pet on routine basis, check them for any mite infestation and consult a veterinarian immediately in case of any signs of mites infestation.
